Social media users circulated one of the last videos published by the murdered Sheikh Ahmed Shuaib Al-Rifai before his assassination, as he criticized corruption in Lebanon, which proves that the assassination was political and not due to personal or family disputes, as promoted by some media outlets close to the militia.
Sheikh Al-Rifai appeared in the video satirically criticizing the Lebanese security services, which have come under the influence of the Hezbollah militia, praising them for their efforts to arrest a criminal who had previously threatened his brother with the district of Akkar in northern Lebanon.
Al-Rifai said in the video: “We said that the person who assaulted my brother was staying up late with the security forces, but they left the perpetrator and went to arrest my brother, who is seeking his livelihood.”
And he added sarcastically: “May God bless you for this sedition, and God willing, your fate will be hell.
On the rampant corruption in the Lebanese state apparatus, Al-Rifai added: “Oh, shame on this country, which we left to travel and returned to, as sands that we build to become like the world.”
He said: “A country from its beginning to the end, everything in it is a corrupt authority, and his right is two francs in any department and in any center, from the smallest element in the smallest police station from Akkar to the Bekaa to the largest prime minister, all of them are liars and corrupt, and there is no one who works with conscience and pride in his movement.”
A body buried 5 days after his disappearance
Yesterday, Sunday, the Lebanese security services found the body of Sheikh Ahmed Shoaib Al-Rifai buried in an area close to his village in the Akkar district in northern Lebanon, 5 days after his disappearance.

The Lebanese Internal Security Forces said in a statement that, after unknown persons kidnapped Sheikh Ahmed al-Rifai in the city of Tripoli, and took him with his car to an unknown destination, directions were given to the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces to carry out immediate investigations with the aim of clarifying the circumstances of the accident and arresting the perpetrators.
She added, “As a result of the field and technical follow-up, the Information Division was able, during the past 48 hours, to find the kidnapped person’s car, confiscate one of the cars used in the kidnapping, identify the kidnappers, and arrest 4 people, three of whom are relatives of the kidnapped person.”
