The last subway before eleven. Prague’s public transport will end its daily operation sooner

The daily operation of the metro, trams and buses will end gradually between approximately 22:00 and 22:30. At the same time, night tram and bus lines will start to run. The intervals on the backbone railway lines will also be extended after 21:00.

“The supply of metro, tram and suburban bus connections will continue to be held well above current demand, which is now again about 70 percent lower than usual,” said Drápal. Demand for night connections fell the most, by about 80 percent.

According to the spokesperson, the modifications are designed so as not to restrict employees of medical facilities and other professions working in the so-called 24/7 regime and the alternation of evening and night shifts. Rotating workers will be able to use the last daily connections on the way to and from work.

Metro intervals are extended by 10 to 45 seconds at peak times. For trams, the intervals in the morning rush hour will be slightly extended by one to two, which means that they will run at ten minute intervals in the morning rush hour. An exception will be the backbone tram lines 9, 17 and 22, which will be dispatched at five-minute intervals. For city buses, the current intervals will remain, as the decrease in the number of passengers is the lowest for buses.

“At the same time, in agreement with the Central Bohemian Region, daily traffic on suburban bus lines that connect to the metro will be adequately shortened. With the exception of lines 951 and 953, the operation of night suburban lines will be canceled in agreement with towns and municipalities, ”said Drápal. On the railway, the interval will be extended from 30 to 60 minutes after 21:00. The midnight departure of trains from Prague will be maintained.
