“The Last of Us”: the teaser for the second season was released | The series returns in 2025

After months of intrigue and speculation, Max released this Thursday the teaser for the second season of The Last of Us, the apocalyptic series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey based on a successful video game from the beginning of this century. Likewise, although he did not specify the exact date, he announced that the premiere of the second installment will occur in 2025.

In the video that the streaming entertainment company shared on its official platforms, you can see Ellie and Joel, the main characters of the fiction, experiencing the duality of this new life on Earth as a result of the cordycep fungus, which infects humans. and turns them into a kind of “zombies”. At times, in this unstable world there are situations of encounter, tenderness and hope, and at others, of despair, horror and suffering.

Mark Mylod, winner of the Emmy for Best Dramatic Direction for Succession, is one of the five new directors of the series along with Nina López-Corrado (Perry Mason), Stephen Williams (Watchmen) and Kate Herron (Loki).

All of them will join directors who already worked on the production, such as Peter Hoar, who directed episode 3 of the 1st season (“Long, Long Time”), in which the series’ protagonists do not appear and which earned him a Emmy nomination; and co-creators and executive producers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. In the first season there were nine episodes directed by seven directors.

Mylod was executive producer of Succession – which won x awards at the last Emmy Awards, including Best Drama Series – and won the best direction award for episode 3 of the series’ final season (“Connor’s Wedding “), in which he directed 4 episodes, including the first and the last. He was also a director on series such as HBO’s Game Of Thrones and Entourage and Showtime’s Shameless.

The first season of The Last Of Us had a total of nine episodes that were broadcast weekly every Sunday on the Max signal (ex HBO), from January 29 to March 12, 2023.

After its broadcast last January, the series earned 24 Emmy nominations and won eight awards at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which honor the best technical and “behind-the-scenes” achievements of American productions.
