The celebrated HBO series adapted Naughty Dog’s hit franchise for PlayStation, bringing the events of the 2013 game to the screen earlier this year. In ‘The Last of Us’, smuggler Joel Miller, played by Pedro Pascal, led Ellie Williams (Bella Ramsey) through an America devastated by a horrifying fungal plague in hopes of finding a cure.

Although Mazin narrowly avoided confirming whether or not Abby had been cast before the strikes, the showrunner did reveal that progress had been smooth.
“The strike stopped us in our tracks. Things were in the works. Look, Abby was the first role we wanted to tackle. We have a pretty good track record of making big casting announcements and getting people to say, ‘Really?’ So we people may disagree, but I think we’ve done well so far and the public seems to feel that we’ve done well and the Academy seems to feel that we’ve done well.
