After various rumors and leaks, Sony has finally confirmed a revamp of The Last of Us Part II. The new version of the game will be launched on PlayStation 5 on January 19 next year.
Those who own the PlayStation 4 version can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for 10 dollars – just over a hundred.
Via the Official PlayStation Blog developer Naughty Dog says that the new version entices with improved graphics in various variants. Here you can choose between 4K resolution, 1440p upscaled to 4K with a better frame rate or unlocked frame rate for TVs that support VRR. In addition, the quality of textures, level of detail, shadows and more have been jacked up a few notches.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered also makes use of the PlayStation 5’s SSD, promising faster loading times. DualSense functionality is also utilized, with adaptive shoulder buttons and tactile feedback in the controller.
Brand new mode
Alongside the visuals, the new version also offers a completely new mode for The Last of Us Part II, called No Return. Here you can choose one of several different game characters and test your abilities in randomly generated sequences of stealth and combat.
Each attempt through the mode unlocks new characters, outfits and equipment. A special challenge is also posted every day, where players can collect points and measure their strength against other players on a global leaderboard.
Of other news is what Naughty Dog calls Lost Levels. These are unfinished levels that were originally cut from The Last of Us Part II, but that players can now experience. A Guitar Free Play Mode has also been added, allowing you to play guitar at any time.
