(PressFire.no): Sony’s presentation of upcoming games on Wednesday lacked a game we have long heard about, but not yet seen.
The multiplayer part of “The Last of Us Part II” was, as is known, turned into a stand-alone game and was to become one of Naughty Dog’s so-called “live service” games. Development has been going on since 2020, and a peek at the game was not unlikely.
But now the developer says that the game has been delayed even more, despite the fact that we haven’t been given a launch date.
The postponement comes at the same time as Bloomberg and journalist Jason Schreier tell about problems within the company.
According to sources at Naughty Dog, an internal evaluation of the game should have resulted in a downscaling of the development. A small group of developers continue to work on the game, while the company considers what to do next.
So far, the multiplayer game has not been scrapped, but the rest of the developers are said to have been moved on to other projects.
Sony bought developer Bungie last year, and is said to have asked the company to take a look at the Naughty Dog game. It was this evaluation that ended in the sudden brake – Bungie is said to have questioned whether the game would attract players over time, according to Bloomberg’s sources.
