The weekend calm was disturbed by the studio Naughty Dog, which presented The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. The announcement was met with criticism from players that the developers should be working on a new game and not always using their previous ones. As it turns out, so the core team is really focusing on another project.
According to VGC editor Jordan Middler, new employees are working on The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered to familiarize themselves with the studio’s procedures and get up to speed. Neil Druckmann and other experienced folks at Naughty Dog are focusing on a bigger title. A new brand was previously rumored, as was a third installment of The Last of Us, but neither has yet been confirmed.
One thing is certain. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PlayStation 5 will be released on 1/19/2024 and will be Sony’s first first-party title in the coming year. Let’s hope Sony has more in store for 2024. Another candidate is Marvel’s Wolverinealthough the year 2025 is more often mentioned.
From what I was told from one person, this was more of a project for new hires to get them in the game. Druckman’s team is full steam ahead on an original. One doesn’t takeaway from the other afaik
