The director also said that he couldn’t understand how people can get overly excited about fictional characters.
“I think you have to create a certain separation to say: we made this game, we believe in this game, we are proud of this game. Now it is out there and it is the case that every reaction of people – whether they like it or not – is fair, ”said Druckmann. “This is their reaction and you don’t defend yourself against it.”
However, there are reactions that he cannot always ignore: “The other thing with the hateful stuff, the more hideous stuff, is a little more difficult. It is particularly difficult when I see it happen to team members or cast members who play a certain character in the game. ”
Despite criticism of the plot, “The Last of Us Part 2” was a huge success.

Druckmann referred to an actress who, because of a fictional character she plays in the game, “experiences really terrible, hideous things”. It is difficult for the director to accept this.
“I try to ignore it as best I can. When things escalate and get serious, there are certain security protocols that we adhere to, and I’ll report it to the appropriate authorities. Then you just try to focus on the positive and remember to distract yourself with other things. But that’s kind of just the reality. “
