The Last of Us: Part II is about to be released, so of course there is the question of whether and how the franchise will continue afterwards. According to Naughty Dog, a third part is obviously not excluded.

With Uncharted, Naughty Dog is through for the moment, but how about the second successful brand The Last of Us after the early release of Part II? Is there a third serial branch or not?
Naughty Dogs Neil Druckmann answered this question at least in the beginning. In an interview with the GQ Magazine he did not completely rule out the continuation of the franchise with Part III.
Druckmann thus admitted that he was thinking more and more about the future now that the work on The Last of Us: Part II has been completed. There was nothing he could do about thinking about Naughty Dog’s next big thing. Then the creative director adds: “So yes, the next thing could be Part 3, but it could also be a new IP.”
In short: Naughty Dog continues with either the third The Last of Us or a completely new game brand. So fans of the franchise can still hope for a continuation. Otherwise, the series adaptation of The Last of Us by HBO is also in the house.
