The new locomotives first go to Břeclav to activate the interlock.
Bombardier Transporstation completes delivery of ten new TRAXX 3 MS locomotives (formerly MS3) for ČD Cargo. The last two machines of the 388 series will arrive in the Czech Republic by Tuesday or Wednesday new contract will be delivered by the manufacturer next year. The carrier will use them for its international expansion.
ČD Cargo informed about the delivery of other machines on social networks. He will head to Břeclav from the production plant in Kassel. The reason is the installation and activation of the Mirel VZ1 security device. Due to the current situation, it was agreed that Slovak employees minimize their stay in the Czech territory by bringing the locomotives to Břeclav.
The locomotives have not yet been approved, they will run in trial operation. According to the purchase agreement, the first ten locomotives of this series were to be approved for operation in all neighboring countries and in Hungary. By still not approving the locomotives, the company violated the terms of the contract.
„The company faced failure to meet the delivery deadline set out in the contract, with all the ensuing consequences. Due to confidentiality, I cannot comment on the details, but I would like to assure you that the delay was fully compensated despite the complications caused by our company’s pandemic. There is therefore no reason to terminate the cooperation,“Said Tomáš Tóth, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ČD Cargo. Since the beginning of the test run, the first two locomotives have run more than 160,000 km. “The European approval process is nearing completion and during the third quarter of this year, the locomotives, in accordance with the signed addendum to the purchase contract, should already be used for foreign services,“Said the carrier.
The last locomotive number 388.010 will have a special sticker that refers to the environmental benefits of rail transport. The wind turbines on the sides are supposed to symbolize the drive of electricity from renewable sources.
