Zhang Xiaoping, Secretary of the Party Committee and Principal of Jiaxing Experimental Primary School, took over the “fire” and started running calmly.
At this moment, the “fire” of the Hangzhou Asian Games is passed down from generation to generation; at this moment, the “fire” of education is passed down from generation to generation.
It coincides with Teachers’ Day. For Zhang Xiaoping, today’s torch relay is of great significance.

“33 years ago, during the Beijing Asian Games, I just entered Jiaxing Experimental Primary School and became a people’s teacher. 33 years later, I held a torch and ran into the flame-out ceremony at Jiaxing Station of the Hangzhou Asian Games torch relay. This is the ‘passing on the fire from generation to generation’ that I am experiencing.” Zhang Xiaoping said.
Zhang Xiaoping was born in a teacher’s family in Jiaxing and grew up beside the podium. She has been teaching for more than 30 years, and no matter how busy she is, she has never left the front line of teaching.
National Outstanding Teacher, National Outstanding Moral Education Advanced Worker, National March 8th Red Flag Bearer, National Leading Principal, Zhejiang Province Meritorious Teacher… Each of these honors is the “report card” she has gained from decades of teaching.
“Today, too many friends and colleagues, especially students, sent me Teacher’s Day blessings and cheers for the torch relay. I was very touched.” Zhang Xiaoping said that as the last torch bearer in Jiaxing, she deeply felt the red spirit of the torch relay.
