Park Chan-wook is an amazing and imaginative director who is equally good at portraying cruelty, violence, passion and tenderness on screen. “The Decision to Leave” is one of the most sober films in the South Korean master’s filmography, but the beauty of the images and the excellent editing solutions create a hypnotically mediative impression. The director obsessively plays with the planes, colors, angles and montage of the shots.
