On Monday, the last farewell to the founding member of the Olympic, Pavel Chrastina, took place in the Strašnice crematorium. Several dozen friends and colleagues attended the funeral.
Pavel Chrastina died on December 28 at the age of 82. The former bassist and lyricist of the band Olympic composed hits like Turtle, Perhaps it was my fault or Ptak Rosomák, which also accompanied him on his last trip on Monday.
Among the mourners was the band’s singer and frontman Petr Janda, with whom he founded the well-known group in 1962 with Chrastina. Among the others who came to say goodbye to the singer were rock singer Pavel Sedláček and singer Viktor Sodoma.
Chrastina was born on April 25, 1940 in Prague. He considered the years 1967 and 1968 to be the happiest period, when, according to him, the group basically had no competition.
Chrastina left the Olympic in 1969 to study documentary at FAMU. He emigrated to Australia in 1980, then moved to the United States. He returned to the Czech Republic in 1994.
