The last European Championship tickets have been divided: the different groups in a row

The last qualifying matches for next summer’s European Championship have been played. The Netherlands is linked to Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia. 24 countries will attempt to win the European Championship title. VoetbalPrimeur lists the different groups.

Group A: Turkey, Italy, Wales and Switzerland
One of the few groups of which we had been able to say for some time which four countries would compete against each other. Italy can be seen as the favorite in this group, but there is no really easy opponent for La Squadra Azzurra. Switzerland is only one place behind the Dutch national team in the FIFA rankings, while Turkey managed to beat France in the last qualifying series. Wales, with Gareth Bale in the ranks, managed to reach the semi-finals during the first European Championship participation in 2016.

Group B: Denmark, Finland, Belgium and Russia
The group of our southern neighbors is also a risky one. With Denmark, Finland and Russia, the Red Devils play against a number of dangerous teams. For example, Denmark beat England in the Nations League in October, Finland outsmarted France a few days ago (0-2) and Russia has a rock-solid team.

GROUP C: THE NETHERLANDS, UKRAINE, AUSTRIA AND MACEDONIA
The Netherlands had to wait a little longer before it became known who would be the last opponent in the group stage of the European Championship. North Macedonia won 0-1 against Georgia to join the Orange, Ukraine and Austria. It is the first time that the country will play a European Championship. Goran Pandev, who made the winning goal for North Macedonia, was also there during the last match of the country against Orange in September 2008 (and was also accurate then).

A favorable draw for the men of national coach Frank de Boer, who avoid the absolute top countries and are obliged to their position to reach the knockout phase.

Group D: England, Croatia, Scotland and the Czech Republic
The most striking poster in Group D: England – Croatia. The two countries faced each other in the semifinals at the 2018 World Cup. The Croats won 2-1 after an extension. Mario Mandzukic became the match winner: he worked the winning goal against the ropes in minute 109, allowing his country to take on France in the final. This game was lost 4-2, meaning Les Bleus won the World Cup title.

The Czech Republic, which has always been represented at the European Championship since 1996, must also be taken into account. And ‘last but not least’ Scotland, which eliminated Serbia and thus took the last available European Championship ticket. The Scots will be eagerly awaiting the duel with England.

Group E: Spain, Sweden, Poland and Slovakia
Spain is the big favorite in the group with Sweden, Poland and Slovakia, but must watch out for the specific qualities of the opponents. In Poland there is of course one Robert Lewandowski in the forefront, while Sweden is traditionally difficult to beat on commitment and team spirit. Slovakia completes Group E: they won the decisive qualifying match against Northern Ireland 1-2.

Spain and Slovakia also faced each other during the European Championship qualifying series. Then the Spaniards got stuck on a 1-1 draw, so they have been warned.

Group F: Hungary, Portugal, France and Germany
The last of the six groups this summer can immediately be seen as the ‘Pool of Death’. Germany, France, Portugal and Hungary will battle who will advance to the knockout stages of the tournament. A very strong line-up, with Portugal as the current European champion, France as the world champion and Germany as a team that should never be underestimated. Hungary can in any case prepare for a very tough assignment.
