Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnik said President Vladimir Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a horrific phone call on Monday.
According to him, the leaders discussed the prospects for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
“The conversation was terrible. The same blockade again. No foresight,” Melnik said.
According to him, Kyiv is still not losing hope for a change in Germany’s position. He called on Germany to support the prospects of Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Melnik noted that it is not a question of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union tomorrow, but relies on an entrenched accession procedure.
“We don’t need a free ticket. But we want it to happen faster, within a few years,” he said.
He also called on German authorities to stop energy imports from Russia.
