We have known for many months that Dodge will end production of the Charger and Challenger models, which are powered by six- and eight-cylinder gasoline engines, despite unabated customer interest. Now, however, there is a specific date in the world until which new cars can still be ordered.
That deadline is the end of July this year. American dealers have been instructed that they can send orders to automakers for a new charger or challenger with an eight-cylinder Hemi engine only until the end of this month.
“It’s really the last challenge,” said Tim Kuniskis, head of the Dodge brand. “As we move into the exciting, electrified future of muscle cars, we’re closing out an unforgettable Dodge era, and time is running out for those who want to own a piece of it,” he added.
The production lines of these cars will stop no later than December 31 of this year, so the automaker has five months to fulfill all orders for the eight-cylinder versions. However, according to the automaker’s website, both models still offer the 3.6-liter Pentastar six-cylinder; it is not yet clear whether it will be possible to order it in August or later.

I disagree, the V8 is not giving up on the competition.
It’s sad, but I guess it has to be.
If something better comes along with electricity why not.
