In the coming week, the last Berlin district will also get a state corona test center. As the rbb found out, one is currently being set up in Steglitz-Zehlendorf.
The Senate is thus keeping its promise to have a test center financed by the state with free offers in every district when Berlin enters a new phase of corona testing from Monday.

Then the free citizen tests will no longer apply to everyone, and only certain groups will be tested free of charge, for example pregnant women and people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons. All others have to pay for their corona tests at private test centers.
It is expected that a quick test will cost up to 20 euros. For unvaccinated people who have to present a negative test to the hairdresser or restaurant, for example, it becomes expensive. It is unclear how many of the currently more than 1,200 corona test sites in the city will continue – whether the business is still worthwhile for them.
The new state test center in Steglitz-Zehlendorf will be located in the town hall. City Councilor for Health Carolina Böhm assumes that it will open on Tuesday or Wednesday. One will then be closed in the Lichtenberg district, where the Senate previously had two test centers. All in all, there are twelve locations in the city. The CDU health politician Danny Freymark doesn’t think that’s enough. He called for up to 30 state test centers in the rbb, so that the distances there are also short in the outskirts.
