The last 540,000 doses of flu vaccine reach the country’s DSPs on Tuesday and Wednesday

According to the Ministry of Health, the last 540,000 doses of influenza vaccine will reach the public health departments on Tuesday and Wednesday and, later, in the family doctors’ offices to continue immunizing people at high risk of illness.

“For this season, the Ministry of Health has purchased approximately 3 million doses of influenza vaccine, double that of last year,” the Ministry of Health announced.

The representatives of the Ministry of Health point out that, as part of the Ministry of Health’s annual free influenza vaccination campaign, people over the age of 65 with chronic diseases, especially respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, metabolic diseases, institutionalized children and the elderly, are immunized as a matter of priority. medical staff, as well as pregnant women, according to WHO and ECDC recommendations.

The campaign of the Ministry of Health is carried out through the offices of family doctors and in sanitary units with beds.

The distribution of vaccine doses to the public health directorates was done in several stages, starting with September 14, 2020.

Until November 29, during the free vaccination campaign of MS, a number of 864,796 people from the risk categories were vaccinated, according to the monitoring carried out by INSP.

According to the same sources, at national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (clinical flu, IACRS and pneumonia) is decreasing, in the 48 week of monitoring, it was 31,874, 63.9% lower than the one registered in the same week of the previous season (88,394) and by 27.4% lower compared to the previous week (43,954) – possible decreases due to the under-reporting during the legal holidays.

To date, only one laboratory-confirmed influenza case and no confirmed influenza virus deaths have been reported.
