Spain

The Spanish Ministry of Health registered an additional 13,318 new infections, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 921,374, according to data announced by the Spanish health authorities. Of the new infections, 6,603 correspond to confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.

Madrid continues to be the autonomous community with the highest number of new infections, registering 2,292 new cases, 22% of the total, a number that brings the accumulated in the region to 273,037. For this reason, a State of Emergency was declared last Friday.

Spain adds 140 more deaths to the official count, which means that the total figure is already around 33,553 deaths, according to this Thursday’s balance sheet.

It should be taken into account that these data do not include those who died in nursing homes or who did not undergo the diagnostic test despite having symptoms compatible with the viral disease.

Italy

Italy recorded 8,804 infections with the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, a new record as well as 83 new fatalities, according to the Italian Ministry of Health.

Since the covid-19 pandemic appeared in the country on 21 February, 389,602 infections have been reported, which have caused 36,372 deaths, according to Italian authorities.

The number of active cases in Italy now stands at 99,266, with 5,796 people admitted to hospitals, 326 more than on Wednesday.

In turn, the number of inpatients in intensive care in the last 24 hours is 586, 47 more than the previous day.

The regions with the most cases detected on the last day were Lombardia with 2,067 daily infections, Piedmont with 1,033 new infections and Veneto with 600 daily cases.

United Kingdom

The UK has recorded 18,980 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 673,622 since the pandemic began in the country, according to the British Ministry of Health.

With regard to deaths, 138 more were accounted for, currently totaling 43,293 fatalities.

There are an additional 4,941 patients hospitalized in the last 24 hours, of which 563 are in intensive care units. The total is 150,378.

Globally, the Covid-19 pandemic has infected 38.6 million people, causing more than one million fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
