The Spanish Ministry of Health registered an additional 7,718 new infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 896,986, according to data announced by the Spanish health authorities.

Madrid remains the autonomous community with the highest number of new infections, corresponding to 15% of the total in the country, which is why a State of Emergency was declared last Friday.

Spain adds another 80 deaths to the official count, which means that the total figure is already around 33,204 deaths, according to Tuesday’s balance sheet.

It should be taken into account that these data do not include those who died in nursing homes or who did not undergo the diagnostic test despite having symptoms compatible with the viral disease.

Italy

Italy has registered 1,008 infections with the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, as well as 41 new fatalities, according to the Italian Ministry of Health.

Since the covid-19 pandemic appeared in the country on February 21, 365,467 infections have been reported, which have caused 36,246 deaths, according to Italian authorities.

The number of active cases in Italy is now 87,193, with 5,076 people being hospitalized, 255 more than on Monday.

In turn, the number of inpatients in intensive care in the last 24 hours is 514, 62 more than the previous day.

The regions with the most cases detected on the last day were Lombardia with 1,008 daily infections, Campania with 6635 new infections and Lazio with 579 daily cases.

United Kingdom

The UK has recorded 17,234 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 634,920 since the pandemic began in the country, according to the British Ministry of Health.

With regard to deaths, 143 more were recorded, with a total of 43,018 fatalities.

There are an additional 4,367 patients hospitalized in the last 24 hours, of which 507 are in intensive care units. The total is 148,839.

Globally, the Covid-19 pandemic has infected 37.8 million people, causing more than one million fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
