The largest strike in Great Britain in 12 years – half a million employees are participating

Due to the strike on Wednesday, thousands of schools in the country were closed and public transport was significantly disrupted, as train drivers and border guards at British airports and ports take part in the strike.

Widespread demonstrations are planned across the country to protest the government’s plan to outlaw strikes by public sector workers.

Strikes by workers in various industries are becoming more widespread in Great Britain, because the rapid increase in inflation is reducing the value of the money earned by citizens.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has so far resisted the demands of public sector workers to significantly increase wages at a time when consumer prices are rising rapidly.

Figures from the British Office for Statistics show that 1.6 million man-days were lost due to strikes between June and November last year, the highest level for a six-month period in more than 30 years.

Meanwhile, in November alone, 467,000 man-days were lost due to strikes, which is the highest level since 2011.
