1. Largest exoplanet:
GQ Lupi b Astronomers weren’t sure what they thought of the mysterious GQ Lupi b when it was first discovered in 2005.
GQ Lupi b orbits a young star about two and a half times farther than Pluto is from the Sun, its companion object appears to be a planet or brown dwarf, which is actually a type of small star.
Subsequent observations still could not clear up the confusion.
However, best estimates suggest that GQ Lupi b has a radius about 3.5 times that of Jupiter.
This means that if GQ Lupi b is an exoplanet, then it is the largest that humans have ever discovered.
