The Lamalou-les-Bains hospital center, the first health institution with a gold label in Occitania

This Friday, September 23, the CH Paul-Coste-Floret in Lamalou-les-Bains received the gold label Very High Social and Environmental Health Quality with a score of 96/100. A first in Occitania.

It is a recognition of the work, and a just return totally deserved“, says Régis Gaillardo, acting director of the CH. This Friday morning, at the Paul-Coste-Floret hospital in Lamalou, both the actors and the local elected officials had only one word in their mouth:”Reconnaissance“.”The hospital is now one of the exemplary establishmentsrejoices Olivier Toma, founder of the organization Primum non nocere, who accompanied the CH during the labeling. It is the result of the colossal work of the teams, who commit themselves daily to respect the environment and to take care of their patients.

The steps towards the THQSE label (Very High Health, Social and Environmental Quality) began in 2011. After a one and a half day audit last February, the CH of Lamalou-les-Bains was able to celebrate the achievement of 96 / 100, making the establishment the first hospital in Occitania to be labeled gold. “The future of our planet depends on it. This label is a real enhancement of the collective commitment of all professionals explains Laurence Fontenelle, project coordinator and responsible for risk assessment and sustainable development.

Elected officials and hospital management congratulated the staff on their daily efforts.

A driving force

To award this coveted prize, the juries relied on the three pillars of sustainable development: the social, economic and environmental aspects. Then broken down into concrete actions, such as waste control, energy – most “easy to understand“, according to Laurence Fontenelle -, support to human resources, attractiveness, reaching as far as biodiversity.”It is very good that the elected officials are here today, as they were during the trial. It is not a job you do alonesupports the project coordinator. It is a network, all the stakeholders must be there.

The mayor of the city, Guillaume Dalery, can only be proud of the Lamalousian hospital center, which has 150 nurses, for a capacity of 160 places: “The establishment has been recognized as an important health center in Occitania. It’s a motor hospital. Thanks to all the parameters raised and awarded with this label, the staff will become more and more loyal. Despite today’s difficult context in healthcare facilities in France “.

“The hospital is fine”

While an eighth wave of Covid-19 threatens France, Régis Gaillardo takes stock of the health status of the Paul-Coste-Floret hospital, which, even there, excels. “The hospital is fine. We are still in contact with the Regional Health Authority (ARS), but for the moment we are in no way affected by any wave. We are fortunate to have the human resources necessary to deal with the pandemic, should it ever reappear. During the previous waves we have managed to get out of it and even continue to invest in the hospital, particularly with the refurbishment of the Jeanne-d’Arc pavilion. Unfortunately, this is very rare these days.

A new certificate

In the same morning Laurence Fontenelle was able to announce a second good news to the teams and elected representatives present: the achievement of the HAS certification at 97.3%. “We only learned this a few hours ago, begins the coordinator of the CH project, strongly supported by Régis Gaillardo, interim director of the hospital. We passed the audit in April.“The certification aims to provide an independent assessment of the quality of care in hospitals and clinics in France.
