The Laki-Laki volcano erupted once again on Saturday November 9. This new activity of the volcano caused an enormous column of ash.

9 km is the height to which the thick column of ashes rises from the Laki-Laki volcano in eastern Flores (Indonesia). The volcano erupted once again on the morning of Saturday November 9 at 4:47 a.m. local time without causing any damage this time. Since the start of the week, the eruptions have followed one another around ten times. During the night from Monday to Tuesday, flaming rocks devastated inhabited areas, leaving craters up to 13 meters wide. Thousands of houses and buildings were damaged and the human toll was nine dead and several dozen injured.

Since then, the volcano’s activity has only increased. The authorities expanded the safety zone on Thursday November 7 at the time of a new eruption. “Residents whose homes are within a radius of three to four kilometers from the volcano must be relocated,” say the authorities. 16,000 people have already been evacuated.
