An important project that upgrades the environment and the quality of life is being auctioned by the Municipality of Ioannito. It is about the creation of a cycle path network, an intervention that will take place on the lake front and will give citizens a complete route of approximately seven kilometers in length.
A route that will actually start from Mavili Square and will reach the lakeside promenade in the Anatoli-Katsika area.
The tender conditions for the project with a total budget of 400 thousand euros were approved at today’s meeting of the Economic Committee.
As the President of the Committee and Deputy Mayor of Projects Giorgos Arletos pointed out “this specific intervention is particularly important for upgrading the quality of movement of the residents as a single, safe and in accordance with the specifications cycling route is formed in the most crowded and highly visited part of the city, such as it is that of Paralimnio”.
He also underlined that with this project the network of cycle paths and pedestrian routes is strengthened, while this particular route can be a pilot for others like it.
According to the technical study, the project is divided into three distinct sections:
–SECTION 1: Dionysiou Filosofou Street
In the section in question, a 2.50m wide bicycle path is created on the road for two-way bicycle traffic, in continuation of the existing one that is placed on its pavement (on the Pamvotida lake side).
The development of the cross-section is composed of the following:
– Two-way bicycle path, 2.50 m wide, where the final layer will be colored asphalt mixture.
– A 0.70m wide safety dividing island, to ensure the isolation of bicycle traffic from motorized traffic on the street.
It is noted that the routes are separated from each other, so that there is no interference between pedestrians and bicycles as well as between the various activities that are expected to develop along the route.
-SECTION 2: Miaouli Coast
In this section, the geometry of the existing bicycle path is upgraded and a 2.50m wide path is created, instead of the existing 1.50m, for two-way bicycle traffic,
The development of the section includes a two-way cycle path, 2.50 m wide, where the final layer will be colored asphalt.
-SECTION 3: Fishponds area
In this section, a bicycle path is created and a 2.50 m wide path is formed for two-way bicycle traffic.
The route will be two-way and the final layer will be colored asphalt.
