The head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) club, Darwin Hamm, and the team’s superstar, LeBron James, met last week to discuss plans for the upcoming season, according to the media “Yahoo Sports”.

Ham has expressed his idea and goal of running the unit’s offense through Anthony Davis. James also agreed to this proposal. The Lakers are putting a lot of work into Davis’ progress this season, and the organization believes that the forward will be able to avoid serious injuries and withstand the prescribed loads. Also, the “Lakers” hope that point guard Russell Westbrook will improve the accuracy of his long shots from the corners of the court.

The specialist and James jointly agreed that the main tasks of the team will be to involve all players and create an unselfish atmosphere. Both also believe that better protection is needed. Meanwhile, Ham has warned that the basketball players will have to accept new roles and if he senses dissatisfaction among the players, then they may be benched.

James is currently in the final year of his current $44.5 million contract. There is a high probability that instead of two years, the superstar will look to extend the contract for one season, because in 2024, his eldest son Brony will be eligible to play in the NBA. LeBron has repeatedly expressed his desire to play with the board before the end of his career. During the conversation, however, the topic of the contract was not discussed too widely.

The day of the meeting was the first time that LeBron had the opportunity to sign a new contract with the Lakers for two seasons for $97.1 million, the maximum contract length that can be signed by a player who is older than 38 years. “Lakers” had a disastrous last season – 33 wins, 49 losses and 11th place in the Western Conference, thus not entering either the “play-off” competition or the “play-in” matches.
