The Lakers’ overhaul plans continue to fascinate the NBA community, as they are meant to be diverse and varied. The latest concerns in particular a star of the Eastern Conference, on which the Angelinos would be willing to splurge!
Even during the seasons when they dominate the competition in the West, their name keeps popping up in trade entries. Therefore, this is not likely to change when they go through a difficult campaign. The Lakers have been experiencing the second scenario in recent weeks, and are therefore at the center of discussions about a possible future transfer to improve their crisis-hit workforce.
Between lack of external address, rotation on the band or talent in the internal sector, the gaps to fill are numerous for the Angelino front office. The targets studied on the market are therefore equally so, and also include surprising profiles, like that of an elder of the house. One of them, however, would stand out and especially make the leaders’ mouths water.
The Lakers more than seduced by a Bulls star
Among the franchises likely to upset their roster following poor results, the Bulls have greatly intrigued the Lakers in recent days. The latter really would opinions on DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic…but not only. In the columns of Yahoo SportsJake Fischer reports that Zach LaVine would turn heads in the City of Angels:
The Lakers will definitely keep the progress of the Bulls’ season under control. They dream of a player like Zach LaVine, and would be ready to go all-in for him and send their two remaining future first-round picks, although the whispered idea of trading Russell Westbrook for Vucevic or DeRozan seems far more realistic if Chicago were to abandon his postseason ambitions.
In other words, even if Purple & Gold continue to keep an eye on the Chi-Town exterior, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for them to acquire. Either way, it seems a Westbrook departure is becoming less and less in the air as Rob Pelinka and his deputies try to get rid of another package:
Los Angeles’ main efforts right now revolve around another leaner package in Patrick Beverley, Kendrick Nunn and a future first-round pick, sources say Yahoo Sports.
However, given the limited success of this proposal so far, the Los Angeles staff may decide to reinstate Russ in the negotiations!
Always looking for the big shot that could take them to a new level, the Lakers would pop up Zach LaVine’s name with that in mind. In any case, we will have to wait until January 15th for the latter to become accessible!
