From 1998 to 2017, the Lady of the Alder Festival took place, created and organized by the cultural association Kliho, in Halsou. Dedicated to classical music, this event allowed concerts to take place in the village church. According to Denise Fontaine, the former secretary of the cultural association, all the musicians, young or experienced, had national and international careers.

Despite its success, the weight of the years got the better of him with the closure of the association in 2019. On the other hand, friendly links are preserved, notably with Valérie Aimard, cellist and show creator. This Friday, October 6, his recording of “Six Bach Suites” (EnPhase label) made in the Halsou church is available for sale.

Born in Lyon, Valérie Aimard became interested in the cello at the age of 7 thanks to the influence of a German cellist, Julius Berger. Her work, coupled with undeniable talent, leads her to perform in more than 30 countries as “a recognized chamber musician” with an extensive discography.

Between 1996 and 2006, Kodaly, Mendelssohn, Bartok, Dohnanyi, Chausson, Debussy were performed. Then the idea of recording an anthology of works for solo cello came up. On his YouTube channel called “Only Cello” and “Cello Kids”, 200 of them are online.

Perfection of acoustics

Beyond this prolific musical career, everything could also have changed on the tennis side. Passionate about this sport, Valérie Aimard asked herself: “I was ranked 2nd series and I had to make a choice during my studies. On the other hand, I always take the time to watch the big tournaments and talk about the elegance of one of my inspirations, Roger Federer. It represents a certain balance in performance,” she confides.

By recording these Bach Suites, the artist is tackling a “summit” of her art: “I was seduced by the beauty of the setting and the perfection of the acoustics, particularly during the first scouting sessions with the engineer sound, Franck Jaffrès. We are happy to have obtained the necessary authorizations.”
