/ world today news/ “Both in Europe and in our country there is a crisis related to a decline in trust in traditional parties. A crisis from which the left in Europe cannot escape.”
This was stated by the chairman of the BSP, Mihail Mikov, in the program “Nedelya 150” on BNR after the meeting of the leaders of the PES in Madrid. He specified that precisely for this reason the main topic was measures and ways to build trust among citizens. Mihail Mikov pointed out that during his meeting with the leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, Pedro Sanchez, he discussed views and personal practices on topics from the political life of the left in Spain and Bulgaria. The BSP leader noted that there are parallels between the political space in the two countries, which shows some disunity.
On the subject of Schengen, Mikov stated that he has the full support of the European left for our membership in Schengen. But for its solution, the countries with right-wing government will have to express their clear positions.
“At the moment, Europe is alarming and the leaders of the left are looking for ways to resist terrorism, but the issues of the integration of people of different faiths are also being discussed,” commented Mikhail Mikov on the other topic discussed in Madrid. He pointed out that measures are now being sought for the inclusion of people of different religions, as well as ways to reduce radicalization.
The lack of arguments cannot be replaced by threats
“The state cannot be blocked, the lack of arguments cannot be replaced by threats.” This is what Mikhail Mikov commented on the topic of the intention to take on a huge debt of BGN 16 billion from the rulers. He added that the negotiations for this debt were conducted without a government decision to grant a mandate – and such are the categorical requirements of the Law on International Treaties, the Law on Public Finances, and ultimately the Constitution. Mikov does not rule out the possibility of bringing the matter before the Constitutional Court. He believes that the rule of law should be respected by all authorities, including the executive branch, and in this respect the BSP will be consistent. The leader of the left stressed that it should be clear – exactly the Bulgarian citizens will have to pay these BGN 16 billion. and that along with interest. Mikov reminded that when Oresharski’s government wanted to withdraw 1 billion debt, the parliament was surrounded by the same people who now want to withdraw 16 billion, without particular arguments for this. The chairman of the BSP added that taking out such a huge debt is an acknowledgment of failure in the economic sphere.
On the artificially created topic of “black lists” in the BSP, Mikov stated that those who claim it are most often involved in the media, their point of view is most often heard, including their positions, which often diverge from those of the leadership of the BSP. However, the leader of the left reminded: “Part of the strength of a formation is unity. I think that everyone should be aware of cooperation in implementing the decisions of our governing bodies.”
