Creator of La Mine d’Or, Stéphane Kerdodé will open the doors of his brand new whiskey distillery to the public on July 4th. It is located in Ploërmel, in Morbihan, at the Domaine de Ronsouze, bought several months ago by Stéphane Kerdodé and in which many works have been carried out.
The first single malt beverages from the distillery were aged for 5 years in barrels. The bottles begin to be sold under the “Galaad” brand. In Ploërmel, a whiskey tasting and sale shop has been created and two cellars have been fitted out to allow the storage of 2,400 barrels. The distillery should produce 400,000 bottles per year, indicates Stéphane Kerdodé in the local press.
Several whiskey distilleries in Brittany
The man is a knowledgeable leader. Next to the Gold Mine, he developed the Lancelot brewery located at Roc Saint-André (Morbihan) and can boast of the paternity of “Breizh Cola”, a regional soda sold in the region and in Paris. Today, he separated from his brewery and the production of his soda whose activities were sold two years ago to the Norman cooperative group Agrial.
La Mine d’Or is not the only whiskey distillery located in Brittany. In Lannion (Côtes-d’Armor), the Warenghem company sells its bottles under the Armorik and Breizh Whiskey brands, while in Plomelin (Finistère), the Distillerie des Menhirs sells its products under the Eddu brand.
