Last year, companies whose activities are limited to issuing sick leaves appeared on the medical market last year. After entering the phrase “sick leave” in the search engine, we get an extensive list of results from private companies providing this type of service. What distinguishes them is – as they themselves inform – the fast implementation time of the e-release, which ranges from 5 to 30 minutes.
The cheapest offers start from PLN 59, and the average cost of obtaining such an exemption oscillates between PLN 80 – 120. After entering the website with e-leave, just enter your symptoms in the form and specify the number of days of sick leave you need. The maximum period is 7 days, but it can be extended with the next teleportation and the payment of the fee again. Then we wait for a call from the doctor who confirms the “L4” exposure and provides specific guidelines.
Sickness in 5 minutes, without leaving home – there is a boom to buy “L4”
According to Mikołaj Zając, an expert on the labor market, teleporting relieved the health service at a critical moment, but at the same time strengthened the very easy procedure of extorting “L4”. It is attended by authorized persons, i.e. doctors. From the beginning of the pandemic, nearly 74% of Poles have used teleports.

– The doctor does not have the slightest chance to verify whether the patient is actually sick, whether he is suffering from something, or whether he or she just wants to buy a sick leave. Of course, this does not apply to all e-layoffs, but we are certainly dealing with a procedure in Poland conducted by a small group of people and which generates significant financial losses for the state – explains Mikołaj Zając, president of Conperio, the largest Polish company dealing with sickness absenteeism.

Meanwhile, the state unit does not cope with controls. In 2020, persons insured with ZUS were issued a total of 22.7 million medical certificates, and 275 thousand inspections were carried out. – which is less than 2%.

– ZUS has all the necessary tools to check the exemptions purchased over the phone or the Internet and to identify those that are abusive. Our company also keeps statistics of doctors on the basis of employee control – we know directly which of them are the most popular among patients. Since we have this knowledge, ZUS is certainly also monitoring the situation and should take appropriate steps in advance to counteract it – adds Mikołaj Zając.
