The Kremlin sees nothing reprehensible in the meeting between US President Joe Biden and the leaders of five Central Asian states. As the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said, answering a question from URA.RU, it is the right of the countries themselves to hold such meetings.
“The countries of Central Asia, of course, have their own relations with the United States. Therefore, of course, it is the right of these countries to hold such meetings. We are monitoring this closely. This is not the main thing for us. The main thing for us is to continue our dialogue [со странами Центральной Азии]. This dialogue is extremely important for Russia. We have our own integration processes, on which we focus our attention,” Peskov explained.
US President Joe Biden met with the leaders of five Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. This was the first such summit. As a result, a joint statement was adopted on the development of ties in the field of security, economics, ecology and other areas.
