MOSCOW, MAR 29 (Sputnik) .- The invitation by US President Joe Biden for Russian leader Vladimir Putin to participate in the upcoming climate summit will be examined accordingly, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitri Peskov.
“If (the invitation) has already arrived through official channels, it will be examined according to established procedures,” Peskov replied to the press question whether Putin will accept Biden’s invitation.
He added that this is a “very important issue.”
“The president pays a lot of attention to climate issues (…) But regarding this summit, in particular, it seems that it will take some time before we are clear about the participation,” Peskov stressed.
Biden announced last Friday that Putin is among the 40 world leaders invited to the virtual summit on climate that will be held on April 22 and 23. (Sputnik)
