The fact that US President Joe Biden wants to continue talks on the crisis in Ukraine was positive, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged on Wednesday, while saying that it had begun withdrawing troops from Ukraine’s border.

“It is positive that the US president also mentions his readiness to start serious talks,” Peskov told reporters.
The day before, Biden had promised to work for a diplomatic solution.
He also warned that the possibility of a Russian attack “to a large extent” remained, which, if implemented, would be followed by already prepared sanctions.
Biden said on Tuesday, among other things: “We are not trying to destabilize Russia. Russian citizens are not our enemy. “
Peskov said on Wednesday: “It is probably to be welcomed that the president of the United States, one of the world’s largest countries, one of the most powerful countries, is thinking of the Russian people.”
“However, we would prefer that we do not listen to the different kinds of threats that will be with us if we do something there that we do not intend to do,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
“We are tired of these threats,” he added.
The talks will be “very complex and will require flexibility on both sides,” Peskov predicted.
Russia said this week that some of the large-scale maneuvers it had carried out on the Ukrainian border had come to an end.
According to Biden, despite Moscow’s claims, Washington and its allies have not yet received evidence that any of the 100,000 troops Moscow had concentrated on the Ukrainian border have been withdrawn.
