Moscow appoints the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, as commander of the war in Ukraine.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also appointed two more deputies: General Oleg Salyukov and Colonel General Alexei Kim, reports the Tax.
Moscow justified the reorganization by “broadening the scope of tasks to be solved” as well as the need for closer cooperation between different parts of the army.
The Ministry of Defense specifies that the decision to raise the level of the SAS leadership is linked to “broaden the scope of tasksdecided in the course of its implementation, the need to organize closer interaction between types and types of troops of the armed forces, as well as from quality improvement of all types of support and the effectiveness of the management of troop groups”.
