The Kremlin deemed it “unacceptable” on Friday the words of US President Joe Biden on his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, described as a “tyrant”. “Such rhetoric is hardly suitable for heads of state and is unacceptable for us,” declared Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. “We do not accept such a tone towards the Russian Federation, towards our president,” he added.

On Thursday, Joe Biden declared that Hamas and Vladimir Putin represent “different threats” but have in common that they want to “completely destroy a neighboring democracy”. “We cannot and will not let terrorists like Hamas and tyrants like Putin win,” he added during a speech during which he also called for new American aid for Ukraine.

Arrest of a journalist

The Kremlin also denied persecuting American nationals, after the arrest of a journalist, Alsu Kurmasheva, whose detention was extended until at least October 23, making her the second American reporter detained in Russia. “There is no campaign of persecution of citizens of the United States in Russia. There are American nationals who violate laws and against whom we take appropriate measures,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov, further affirming that the Russian presidency is not following the case of Ms. Kurmasheva, arrested on Wednesday. .
