Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that on the issue of the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian leadership “does not have Stalingrad on the calendar” and negotiations on this issue with the Ukrainian side must be continued. This was stated by the Kremlin representative during a conversation with journalists on Wednesday, March 30, transmits Medusa edition.

The journalist of Komsomolskaya Pravda, referring to Peskov, said that “some experts raise concerns, they say, we already have Stalingrad on the calendar of hostilities, why do we need negotiations.” The spokesman also added that the concerns addressed to the press secretary are “a remark from the people.”

In turn, Peskov said: “Well, we don’t have any Stalingrads on our calendar and shouldn’t be. This is the first thing. And most importantly, there should be no place for emotions. Professionals are negotiating. You need to trust them.”

The Kremlin spokesman also added that the position of the Russian Federation in the negotiations “did not change”, and emotions should be left to “enemies”.

Also, Peskov, answering a question about how Russian President Vladimir Putin assessed the negotiations in Istanbul, said that the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, would give additional clarifications on this matter: “Today he is going to do it.” The Kremlin spokesman, for his part, called “a positive factor” the fact that Ukraine “began to formulate concretely and put on paper what it proposes.”

“For the rest, so far, let’s say, we cannot state anything very promising, some breakthroughs. There is still a very, very long work ahead,” Peskov said.

It should be noted that after the publication by the Russian media of information that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, following the results of negotiations in Istanbul, decided reduce the intensity of fighting in the Kiev and Chernigov directionsin the comments to the relevant publications, users expressed indignation at the actions of the negotiators from Russia.

In particular, Telegram users in the channel of the Russian edition RT accused the Russian delegation in “betrayal”, “draining” the interests of the Russian Federation and the inconsistency of the position of the negotiators, due to which the death of the Russian military in Ukraine became “senseless”:

• “Why did they start (the war against Ukraine) at all? Now we’ll be like outcasts for fucking, all our lives under sanctions, both children and grandchildren”;
• “Who did you send to negotiate?!! Bitch, I will never forgive you for this !!!”;
• “And why did all this then have to start ??? What did our men die for ???”;
• “We gave up, but I hoped so”;
• “This is a betrayal.”
