Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed, on Monday, that the Challenger 2 tanks that the United Kingdom plans to send to Ukraine “will burn like others.”.

Downing Street announced plans to send 12 Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems as part of efforts to “step up” support to Ukraine.

Asked about the UK’s decision, during a conference call with reporters, Peskov said that the delivery of more advanced military equipment from the UK and other European countries to Ukraine: “will not be able to change the situation on the ground, but only ‘prolongs’ the business.” hostility, and “cause more trouble for the state of Ukraine.”

Peskov added that these countries use Ukraine “as a tool to achieve their anti-Russian goals,” as he described it.

In a related context, “7 drones were shot down over the sea” near the port of Sevastopol in the illegally annexed Crimea region, according to the city’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhiev.

On Monday, Razvojev said, “The Air Defense Forces and the Black Sea Fleet shot down the drones.” He explained that the attack was an operation that had “moral” dimensions by the Ukrainian forces, stressing that there were no explosions in the city, and that “everything is calm, and no facilities were damaged,” he said.
