MOSCOW – the Kremlin admits Russian war in Ukraine very difficult, but will continue. The Kremlin persisted with the “military operation” narrative for the invasion.

The confession was made by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to a Bosnian television station on Wednesday.

Peskov said Russia had managed to seriously damage the Ukrainian military machine and this work would continue.

Russian troops invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 in what Moscow called a special military operation and initially seized large swaths of territory.

Kiev forces withdrew last year and are now planning another counteroffensive. Western officials estimate that more than 200,000 Russian troops have been killed or wounded.

“Special military operations are continuing. It was a very difficult operation, and, of course, certain goals were achieved in a year,” Peskov was quoted as saying by news agencies. TASSThursday (11/5/2023).

The Ukrainian military has continued to attack the Russian-occupied east of the country and Peskov said this demonstrated the need to continue the conflict and push back pro-Kiev forces.

“We managed to beat up the Ukrainian military machine a little bit,” Peskov said, noting Russia had launched countless missile strikes against what he said were military targets across Ukraine.

“This work will continue,” he said.

Ukraine accuses Russia of targeting mostly civilian targets, a charge Moscow denies.
