Deduct the Payment of State Officials
The KPK has named the Kapuas Regent Ben Brahim S Bahat and his wife Ary Egahni Ben Bahat as corruption suspects. Both are suspected of making deductions related to the payment of civil servants in Central Kalimantan.
“Currently the KPK has conducted an investigation and named the party as a suspect in relation to allegations of corruption by state officials, namely when carrying out their duties, carrying out actions including requesting, receiving or withholding payments to civil servants or to the general treasury,” said Ali.
The two suspects argued that the corruption money they received was a debt that had to be paid to them. The KPK emphasized that there was no debt as meant by the Kapuas Regent and his wife.
“It’s as if they have a debt to the state officials, even though it is known that this is not a debt,” said Ali.
In addition to deducting payments, Ben Brahim and Ary Egahni are suspected of receiving bribes related to their position as state administrators.
“The suspects are also suspected of receiving bribes from several parties related to their positions as state administrators,” said Ali.
