– It takes place inside Coop Extra, the patrol is armed. As soon as they come in contact with the accused, they are immediately shot with a bow and arrow. It does not happen just once, it happens twice, says police chief Ole Bredrup Sæverud in the Southeast police district to TV 2.
He explains that the two policemen were not in a position to fire shots themselves. A third policeman arrived with protective equipment so that they could get more involved in the situation. While retrieving this, the killer managed to get out.
Sæverud explains that the police searched further and received a number of reports of observations in Kongsberg center. A total of 34 minutes passed from the police were first notified at 18.13 on Wednesday night until the man was arrested.
– It takes so long before they manage to locate him and get in a position to fire a warning shot and arrest the perpetrator, Sæverud says.
He says they hope the investigation will be good enough for them to answer how it could take so long.
