The Klarna co-founder is worth billions – in dispute with neighbor over 200,000

Klarna co-founder Victor Jacobsson – worth around 30 billion – is in a dispute with former neighbors on Södermalm. In one case, the fight is about SEK 200,000, reports say The Express.

The background to the conflict is the renovation work worth between SEK 15 and 20 million that Victor Jacobsson and his wife did in the apartment in Laurinska huset, a building from the 1890s overlooking Söder Mälarstrand. The couple moved both the bathroom and kitchen to other parts of the home, and the renovations allegedly caused an extensive water leak with damage in several apartments. Some neighbors could not live in their apartments for nine months, according to the newspaper.

In 2020, two years after the leak, four neighbors sued Victor Jacobsson and his wife. The neighbors are demanding that the couple cover the cost of their renovations, which insurance does not cover. In one of the cases, it is about SEK 200,000.

But the legal process has dragged on, partly because of the accident that the Klarna co-founder had last year, Expressen writes with reference to Jonas Malmborg’s book “Den stora kreditfesten – the story of Klarna”.

The Jacobssons oppose the lawsuit. When the trial started the other week, they must have been abroad.

Victor Jacobsson was part of the founding trio behind the company, which was first called Kreditor, together with Sebastian Siemiatkowski and Niklas Adalberth. He left Klarna completely in 2012 but owns around 7.9 percent in the company, which in 2022 meant that he was worth approximately SEK 30 billion.
