Camilla Refuses to Wear It: The Dark Past of the Koh-i-Noor, the World’s Most Controversial Diamond
The iconic crown of Britain’s Queen Mary (1867-1953) is removed from the Tower of London for the upcoming coronation of King Charles (74) and Queen Consort Camilla (75). That is what the British court has announced. The crown will be placed on Camilla’s head on May 6, although a number of adjustments have been made in the meantime. For example, the Koh-i-Noor, the diamond in the crown, was removed and ‘tucked away’ in another jewel. Not an illogical choice, because the Koh-i-Noor is extremely controversial and has been a plaything for the most powerful on earth for centuries.
