The King of Thailand goes down the mountain, this is a special message to the demonstrators

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaThe King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn finally ‘went down the mountain’. He visited thousands of his supporters and mingled with them, Sunday (1/11/2020) evening local time.

This happened when he performed a religious ceremony at the Grand Palace. Crowds of worshipers waited for hours on the white walls of the palace complex to greet him, carrying portraits of the king and Queen Suthida while waving the national flag.

The king, also known as Raja Rama, waved to the crowd with a smile. He was surrounded by aides who crouched beside him as he walked.

At that time, he also opened his voice regarding the demonstration that ‘attacked’ the government and himself for months. “We love them all the same,” he said when asked as quoted by Reuters on Monday (11/2/2020).

He also admitted that there was room for compromise with the masses. “Thailand is a land of compromise,” he stressed.

The palace has never made any official comment on protests calling for Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha to step down from his chair. The palace has never commented on calls for restrictions on the king’s power, voiced by activists.

The protests have drawn tens of thousands of people to join the streets. Finally, the masses came to the German consulate and asked for an investigation into the King who was said to have been political in the country of Panzer.

One of the points that the people protested against the king was the unlimited reform of the king’s power. The people also demanded the repeal of the Lese-Majeste law which imprisoned people who criticized the king.

An activist responded to this saying that the king’s comments were limited to words. “The word compromise is the opposite of what actually happened … such as harassment and the use of force and the use of law,” said Jutatip Sirikhan (21).

Previously, Prayuth’s government banned protests last month and arrested many activists under emergency status. But unfortunately, this attracted more and more people to demonstrate.

Prayuth says he will not resign. He rejects allegations that last year’s elections were staged for his benefit.
