According to Denisa Zbrankova Albaniová, the white Swiss shepherd in the picture symbolizes the white spirit, the white magician, the protector and the hope that never dies. The photo impressed the jury of the Creative Photo Awards competition and won in the Animals category. Another Czech photographer, Gabriela Homolová, also received an honorable mention in the People category. The images submitted in the competition are displayed in the gallery.
The overall winner of the competition Creative Photography Awards 2024 he became Lurdes Santander with the film Dreaming of Space. He catches a female bear and three bear cubs lying down with the Milky Way above them.
A competition of art photographers from around the world is part of the festival Siena Awards and focuses on the best in artistic and creative photography. This year, the jury evaluated 6,500 images from more than four thousand photographers from 135 countries.
The winning pictures cover a wide range of subjects. For example, in the Fine Art category, Ukrainian photographer Alena Gromová won first place with the powerful image “Stolen Spring”, captured in the town of Borodjanka, where people try to survive and re- build their lives from day to day.
In the Nature and Landscape category, Dileep Ss, a photographer based in the United Arab Emirates, won with the image Divided Worlds, taken in Dubai. This picture shows the contrast between the modern city skyline and the nature of the desert.
We have already mentioned the winning work of the Czech photographer Denisa Zbrankova Albaniová King of Mordor. The film is set in the spectacular rock formations of the Lusatian Mountains. The winner in the People category, Agnieszka Ostrowská from Poland deals with the theme of otherness and feelings of separation. Her image of a vulnerable girl surrounded by a cactus bush was taken on the island of Fuerteventura.
The Siena International Photo Awards competition is part of the Siena Awards photo festival, which took place this fall for the tenth time. It will last until November 24 and will bring to the city of Siena a series of photo and art exhibitions and many other accompanying events.
