Indie rock band The Kills are back after a 7-year absence with two new singles, “New York” and “LA Hex”.
Formed in 2000 by American singer Alison Mosshart and English guitarist Jamie Hince, the duo The Kills have had a string of hits and albums, including the much-loved Keep on Your Mean Side released in 2003 or No Wow released in 2005. Their fifth and final album, Ash & Ice, was released in 2016 and since then, nothing. Well, not exactly: Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince have, during these years, published various reissues including Little Bastards (2020) et No Wow (The Tchad Blake Mix 2022).
Winning return
The duo is finally back today, even stronger, with two unreleased singles. In the first, New Yorkwe find the famous guitar riffs of Jamie Hince, whose sounds are reminiscent of the classics U.R.A Fever et Future Starts Slow. The second, LA Hex, features a more upbeat and captivating rhythm thanks to its trumpet overlays. Both tracks are accompanied by two music videos directed by Andrew Theodore Balasia. One in a bloody ring, the other under the California sun in the middle of great figures made in Los Angeles.
To celebrate the return, The Kills announced pop-ups in New York at photographer Steven Sebring’s studio on July 27 and in Los Angeles at the Viper Room on August 3.
