The killers release their new theme boy

London.- The Killers have released their first new music following the release last year of their acclaimed seventh album Pressure Machine. “boy” is out today via Island Records.

Written by frontman Brandon Flowers, the song sees the band return to the sound of the stadium-filling anthem. The band debuted the song at last month’s Mad Cool Festival in Madrid.

The song was written before Pressure Machine and, says Flowers, the themes explored in the lyrics actually led him down the path of writing and recreating that album.

Flowers explains, “This was the first song written after we had to cancel the Imploding The Mirage tour due to the pandemic. I had recently moved to Utah and started taking trips to Nephi, where I grew up. wanted to get away so desperately at 16 was now a place I couldn’t help but return to. I have a son who is approaching the age he was at that point in my life. With “boy”, I want to reach out and say to myself And my children, don’t think about it too much. And look for the “white arrows” in their lives. For me now, the white arrows are my wife, my children, my songs and the stage.”

Produced by The Killers, Stuart Price and Shawn Everett, the song’s release follows the band’s recent UK stadium tour, which saw them play to over 400,000 fans at shows including two euphoric nights at the Emirates Stadium in London. “boy” comes out ahead of the band’s biggest North American stadium tour to date, which kicks off in Vancouver at Rogers Arena on August 19.
