Gregor Kobel
Only once was the kicker grade 4 at least within reach. In Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in mid-September, Gregor Kobel received a grade of 3.5 – and otherwise had a half-year that was once again impressive. His outstanding rating average of 2.56 in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the Champions League speaks volumes; no other goalkeeper has been rated anywhere near as well.

The Munich player is well on his way back to his old class. His presence on the pitch, his experience and his style-defining goalkeeping game are visibly changing the statistics of the record champions. Only the extreme performance peaks are missing from the world class category.
Oliver Baumann
With consistently good performances, the 33-year-old veteran played his way into the orbit of the national team this season, was appointed by national coach Julian Nagelsmann for the first time in September and impresses across all competitions with the second-best grade point average of 2.68 behind Kobel. The Hoffenheimer was classified in this category by the editorial team with a clear vote
National Class
Alexander Nübel
An absolute upgrade for Stuttgart. The 27-year-old is not flawless, but he is very confident with high balls and his charisma makes him an important factor for the team.
Lukas Hradecky
Made a mistake in the 3-2 win in Hoffenheim and otherwise remained very consistent. The Leverkusen player often had little to do, but was able to excel in the crucial moments and, for example, kept Bayer 04 in the game in Munich (2:2).
Janis Blaswich
Was an absolute top performer in Leipzig until he was nominated for the national team at the beginning of November. He acted almost flawlessly and shone especially on the international stage. But in the games before the winter break he made mistakes that led to goals conceded. At the same time, Blaswich continued to show some outstanding saves and alternated between light and shadow.
Kevin Trapp
A borderline case. Against Mainz, Leverkusen and Saloniki, the Frankfurt player was involved in conceding goals, but overall he lacked the spectacular moments that are otherwise so often shown. The bottom line is that he is still one of the most solid goalkeepers in the Bundesliga.
Manuel Riemann
The Bochum native may have had the best half-year of his career. He didn’t allow himself to be any bigger and instead saved a lot of points for VfL. In the 0-0 draw in Leipzig, he saved two penalties, is quick to react, good on the line and strong in one-on-one situations. Almost in the style of a handball goalkeeper, Riemann intercepts many balls early and then quickly switches the game back.
Sven Ulreich
Neuer’s deputy did not allow any discussions about his role. In the Bundesliga he was usually not overly tested, but in the Champions League the 35-year-old showed some really good performances and, for example, held on to wins against Copenhagen (2:1) and Galatasaray (3:1).
Koen Casteels
The Wolfsburg player is one of the most complete keepers in the league and hits outstanding long balls. Except for the 0:4 against Gladbach, there were no mistakes.
Marvin Schwäbe
The most consistent and best Cologne. Saved his team from being behind on several occasions, especially on the line and in one-on-one situations with outstanding skills.
Moritz Nicolas
Slipped between the posts after regular goalkeeper Jonas Omlin’s shoulder operation and has maintained a consistently high level ever since. His calm, matter-of-fact and unspectacular manner calms Borussia, the 26-year-old is strong in controlling the penalty area.
Who is missing and why
Noah Atubolu
Freiburg’s new regular goalkeeper kept his clean sheet six times and stabilized over time, but experienced some turbulence at the start of the season.
Frederik Rönnow
Like the rest of the Union team, he struggled with the weak first half of the season and was able to shine in the Champions League, for example (grade 1.5 twice), but overall played too inconsistently and prevented too few goals from being conceded.
Robin Zentner
In the twelve games he played before his finger injury, the Mainz player suffered from treachery from those in front of him and also kept too few unstoppable players. Overall, he conceded a lot of goals, although he was able to excel on occasion.
