The key tasks of preparation for the next OZP are restoration of facilities and decentralization of generation – Government Courier

The Ministry of Energy, together with energy companies of Ukraine, are actively preparing for the next heating season: restoration and repair work is ongoing, and the relevant Headquarters is working. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko during a press conference on the results of the 2022/2023 heating season, reports Government portal.

“Our task is to repair as much as possible the generating capacities that can be repaired. Unfortunately, there are completely destroyed facilities that cannot be rebuilt. We are working to restore not only the generation, but also the transmission system,” he said.

The head of the Ministry of Energy emphasized that measures are also being taken to increase the stability and strengthen the physical protection of energy facilities in the conditions of military challenges.

One of the key tasks in preparation for the next winter is the maximum decentralization of electricity generation, which will make it possible to strengthen both the energy security of the country as a whole and the security of supply to consumers.

“Our goal is to build decentralized shunting generation for emergency power supply of own needs of large stations, critical infrastructure facilities in case of outages and increase generation in the period of shortage,” explained the Minister.

To achieve the corresponding goals, projects on the development of renewable energy sources are being implemented in cooperation with the European Commission, and a network of distributed generation using natural gas is being developed on the basis of OGTSU sites.
