Jakarta –
Every flight can be stressful for passengers. And, long haul flights can be downright scary.
Kris Major is a British flight attendant with 24 years of experience. He moved on short-haul service to 14 hours of flight in the sky.
He experienced a journey with an unpleasant amount of stopovers. And, he became an expert in refueling through power naps at 30,000 feet.
Should you eat before or during a flight?
If you’re catching a night flight and want to maximize sleep on the plane, Major suggests eating before boarding.
Major also says that most business travelers close their eyes as soon as they get on the plane.
“Experienced travelers, after takeoff, you go down into the cabin and you can see that they have closed their eyes, they have covered themselves and are asleep,” he said, quoted by CNN Sunday (19/3/2023).
Even so, Major admits that eating before flying isn’t always feasible, due to long security lines and busy airport terminals.
If you are flying in business or single class, you may also be tempted to take advantage of the food and drink offered on board.
However, in-cabin dining service can take up to two hours, so you’re missing out on valuable downtime. Business class tickets usually grant access to the lounge, so make the most of those amenities, and board the plane well fueled and ready to rest.
